Tasmania is separated from the mainland Australia by Bass Strait. Tasmania has dense rainforests, golden beaches, towering mountains, historic sites and miles of winding tarmac. The perfect formula for a spectacular road trip is in Tasmania.

If you bring your own vehicle for road trip Tasmania, you take the Spirit of Tasmania ferry. There are two sailings for Tasmania per day and discounted fares are often offered. The trip takes nine hours from Melbourne to Devonport in Tasmania.

If you prefer renting a car in Tasmania, you can fly into Hobart or Launceston and choose from rental agencies. Just be aware of restrictions on driving on gravel or dirt roads once you get off the beaten trail in Tasmania.
